Adopt an Island

Do you live near one of the islands in GlenEagles East? Are you tired of looking out your windows onto dried brown grass and dandelions? If so, we need your help.

After 3 or more years with no irrigation, increasingly warm, dry summers and water shortages, it is time to transitioning your island to more drought resistant, sustainable landscaping. In order to do so, the GlenEagles Community Association has put together a program to help us transition more quickly.

All you need to do is meet with your neighbours and agree on a plan using pre-approved shrubs, trees, perennials and ground covers available on the GECA website. You may also want to include benches and picnic tables in the design, although these will probably be installed at a later date.

We also need your commitment to help water the new plants for the first two to three years. GECA will provide you with a water metre to measure usage and will reimburse you and your neighbours for the water.

Plans will be submitted to the GECA landscaping Committee who will prioritize projects based on available funding.

If you would like a horticulturalist to assist you while you’re designing your island please fill out this form.
