GlenEagles Community Association (GECA) Newsletter – March 2026

GECA Spring Newsletter: The Spring Equinox Edition

Community Life

As the Spring Equinox arrives, we welcome the longer days and warmer sunlight. This season invites us to step outside, reconnect with one another, and watch our community come alive again.

Spring is a time for fresh beginnings—whether planning something new, starting a project, or simply enjoying the returning light. Gardens awaken, new ideas take root, and neighbours find new opportunities to gather and grow together.

May this Spring Equinox bring renewal to our surroundings and inspiration to our community.

We wish everyone a bright and vibrant season ahead.

GECA 2026 Community Association Fees

  • The 2026 GECA annual fee of $125 is due April 30, 2026.

These fees have remained unchanged since 2006 and support the maintenance and enhancement of Gleneagles’ parks, boulevards, and landscaped areas.

To help manage administration and follow-up costs, a late fee may be applied to payments received after April 30.

More information and payment options are available on our website: https://geca.ca/geca-annual-fees/

Proposed Concrete Batch Plant – Action May Be Time-Sensitive

For residents who are concerned about Heidelberg Materials’ proposal to build a concrete batch plant within the existing gravel pit near the Bow River, you have an opportunity to influence the outcome.

At this time, we do not know exactly when the application will be considered by the Planning Commission, only that it is expected to occur soon. This means the deadline for written submissions may be as early as April 3.

Because residents cannot speak or ask questions at the Planning Commission meeting, written comments are the only way to ensure that concerns are included in the decision package.

Even a short email expressing your concerns can make a difference and will be included in the materials reviewed by the Planning Commission.

GECA Annual General Meeting

Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2026
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Location: The Links of GlenEagles

The AGM is an opportunity for residents to hear updates on community issues, review the Association’s activities and finances, and participate in decisions affecting GlenEagles.

Following the meeting, please join us for a casual reception to visit with neighbours and Board members. Complimentary appetizers, tea and coffee will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

Residents will receive the AGM information package on April 18, including:

  • President’s Annual Report
  • AGM Agenda
  • Audited Financial Statements
  • Minutes from the 2024 AGM and the September 2025 Special Meeting
  • Proxy form
  • Candidate profiles

GECA Board Update

At the May 2025 AGM, more candidates were nominated for the Board than available positions. Residents requested time to review candidate profiles before voting.

Because voting under the GECA Bylaws must occur in person or by proxy, the election was completed at a Special General Meeting held September 18, 2025.

The Board elected in September will serve until the next AGM in May 2026, when the normal election cycle resumes.

GECA Board Elections

The GECA bylaws provide for between five and nine directors. Watch for an email requesting Board nominations – it will be sent prior to the end of March.

While all nine current directors plan to run again, a vote will be held at the AGM if additional nominations are received.
Candidate profiles received by April 15 will be available through a link included in the AGM notice distributed on April 18.
