President/Landscaping Committee; Current Board Member

GE East

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement

I joined the GECA Board shortly after moving to GlenEagles, during a time when most of the Board had resigned and new members were urgently needed. Since then, I have served in a variety of roles: Board Member (2018–2019), Secretary (2020–2022), President (2023–present), and member of the Landscaping Committee (2024–present).

Over the years, I have recruited Board members with diverse skill sets to meet the financial, legal, and secretarial requirements outlined in our Bylaws. I also helped develop a five-year landscaping strategy, recognizing that landscaping represents the largest portion of our annual fees. My work has included chairing meetings, coordinating agendas and minutes, overseeing budgets, managing contracts, liaising with residents and the Town, and strengthening Board operations overall. I am proud of the landscaping improvements achieved, the caliber of residents who have served on the Board, and our expense management.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

I have held director and executive positions in both the private and public sectors, specializing in operations management, business transformation, and human resources. I have led large, diverse teams by fostering an environment where people feel their ideas and concerns are heard and respected.

If re-elected, I will continue working to ensure the Board operates effectively, responsibly, and in the best interests of the GlenEagles community.

Community Involvement Outside of GECA:

Provide input and support to the concrete batch plant concerned citizens group.
Work with a seniors advocacy group to support senior’s initiatives in Cochrane e.g. seniors housing, assisted living, long term care, etc.

Villas

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

I was one of the nominees presented at the GECA AGM in May to replace the Villas representation on the Board who had just resigned.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

I practiced as a family physician in Cochrane for 40 years before retiring. As the largest condominium community in GlenEagles, we believe it is important that The Villas be represented on the GECA Board, and our residents have always been active participants.

Having lived in The Villas for many years and been engaged in community matters, I bring both experience and strong connections to the table. I see my role as a voice for residents—listening, sharing their concerns, and ensuring that Board decisions reflect what the community truly wants. In addition, I can help facilitate collaboration with the Town’s Administration Team, an important relationship as GECA continues to partner with the Town on landscaping, pathways, and fencing initiatives.

Community Involvement Outside of GECA:

  • Chair of the Vistas of Gleneagles Condon Board
  • Vice-Chair of the Cochrane and Area Health Foundation
  • Vice-Chair of the Cochrane Ambulance Group

The Vistas

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

I joined the GECA Board almost as soon as I moved to Gleneagles and have held a variety of positions on the GECA Board. Currently I am a member of the Landscaping Committee, tour the area frequently on my bike, and take pictures to highlight concerns e.g., path/repair issues; slumpage near the bridge on the west side of the coulee; Town grass cutting, etc.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

I am a Retired Master Electrician and for the biggest part of my career was a maintenance / project manager of an advanced automated manufacturing facility.

Now and in the past I’ve chosen to run for a board position because I care deeply about preserving the open spaces and pathways that define our community. I regularly bike and walk through GlenEagles to identify issues firsthand and report back to the Board. Landscaping is our largest budget item. Together, with the rest of the Board, I’m committed to making sure these investments are managed wisely so our shared spaces remain safe, beautiful, and enjoyable for all. By doing so, we not only enhance our quality of life but also help maintain the value of our properties. It also ensures that our community remains a place people are proud to call home and one that’s desirable to live in. In addition, a strong community association plays a vital role in working with the Town to advocate for our needs and protect our interests.

Community Involvement Outside of GECA:

Currently on the Board of directors of Glenvista Condominium.

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

I have served on the GECA Board for the past two years, where I played a key role in change management by helping create a structured process framework to guide a major landscaping initiative. This experience allowed me to contribute to clearer decision-making and stronger accountability within the Board.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

I currently assume a civilian role as Manager of Leadership Development at the Calgary Police Service supporting both civilian and sworn members within the Service.

The primary skills I bring to the GECA Board include Strategic Planning, Change Management and Leadership Development.

If re-elected, I am committed to supporting the Board in its long-term planning, guiding GECA through change where needed, and strengthening the leadership role it plays in our community. Having worked throughout my career to foster effective, transparent, and collaborative organizations, I welcome the opportunity to continue applying these strengths in service to GlenEagles – the community I am proud to call home.

Community Involvement Outside of GECA:

I am an active member of Calgary Women in Policing (CWIP). I have also volunteered with the Cochrane & Area Humane Society, a role I plan to return to once retired, and have been involved with the Social Committee at my local parish.

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

Although I have not previously served on the GECA Board, I was the first GlenEagles resident to take part in GECA’s “Adopt an Island” program. After the last AGM I contacted one of the GECA Board members, Robin Wentzel to ask about adopting Island #8 on the Gleneagles landscaping map. I submitted a planting plan and was given approval and funding to go ahead. and single-handedly purchased and planted a selection of 50 shrubs and perennials. I continue to care for the space through regular weeding and watering and am committed to maintaining it for the next several years. I am proud of how this small project has enhanced the appearance of our community.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

Before retiring nine years ago, I spent 25 years in the Information Technology industry, holding positions such as IT Project Manager, IT Director for a large national retailer, and IT Finance Consultant for a global oil and gas company. My hobbies include fine woodworking and residential landscaping.

As a long-time resident of GlenEagles since its earliest days, I have recently become more engaged in community matters, including the “Jones Estate” and “Batch Plant” proposals. I am committed to staying informed, voicing residents’ concerns, and helping preserve the quality of life in our community. I also look forward to contributing to the Landscaping Committee; providing technical and financial advice; and potentially assisting with updates to the Architectural Guidelines.

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

I currently serve as President and Director of the GlenEagles Estates Condominium Board and have been a member of the GECA Board for the past two years. In addition to my governance role, I provide the Board with legal guidance, assist in drafting and refining motions, and ensure proper wording and recording of Board decisions. My legal expertise has helped strengthen GECA’s governance practices and supported clear, well-documented decision-making.

I previously served as Vice-President, Corporate Legal & Corporate Secretary of Encana Corporation, and as Vice-President, Business Development and General Counsel of Promeita Infrastructure. The Vistas

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

While I have not previously served on the GECA Board, I have been in discussion with the current Treasurer, Codyne Carson, about stepping into her role. With Codyne resigning due to work commitments, I see this as an opportunity to contribute my skills and ensure a smooth transition in this important position for the Association.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

I am a semi-retired business owner, having operated a company that imports wines and spirits across all four Western provinces, and employs 26 people throughout Western Canada. Running this business has required strong skills in analyzing and acting on complex spreadsheets, as well as a sharp eye for identifying and addressing any signs of misconduct.

Currently serving as Treasurer on the GlenVista Condominium Board, if elected, I would be willing to take on the Treasurer’s role for GECA, if requested by the Board.

Moving to GlenEagles seven years ago was one of the best decisions we could have made. Ensuring each community and, under a broader scope, GlenEagles, continues to thrive is the reason I stood for election in GlenVista, and now offer my service to the GECA community as a whole.

Community Involvement Outside of GECA:

  • Member of the GlenVista’s Community Board for the last two years. Currently serving as Treasurer.
  • Until Covid, was an active volunteer for the Bethany Care Centre.

GE East

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

I joined the Board and the Landscaping Committee in March 2021 and was appointed Secretary shortly thereafter.

As Secretary, and in conjunction with the President, I schedule the meetings, prepare agendas, record the minutes, manage Board records, edit resident communications, and consult with the President on issues/decisions.

As a member of the Landscaping Committee, I participate in meetings and make decisions with respect to landscaping initiatives that will enhance, maintain, and protect the outdoor spaces in GlenEagles as we transition to more sustainable and resilient landscaping alternatives to reduce operating costs.

Background: Including Relevant Information/Professional Background/Reason for Running:

Prior to retiring, I was the Executive Assistant to the CEO of TransCanada/TC Energy in Calgary for 20 years and held a similar position for an English company for 19 years. I am also a keen gardener, starting from age 8, under my father’s knowledgeable guidance. I now use these skills in my various roles on the GECA Board.

Being a member of the GECA Board enables me to be involved in the Cochrane community and to give back to the community that I love. If elected I would be interested in continuing my role as Secretary to the Board – the President and I work very closely together and I believe make a good team – and as a member of the Landscaping Committee.

Community Involvement Outside of GECA:

I previously volunteered and helped fundraise for the annual Willow Park Charity Golf Classic and the Calgary United Way, both of which make a meaningful difference to lives across local communities. I currently volunteer at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo where I talk with visitors about the animals and habitats and, in particular, the Species Survival Plan which assists in restoring some of the world’s most endangered species.

Current Position or Previous GECA Involvement:

As a member of the GECA Board and former Landscaping Committee member, I helped develop a sustainable landscaping strategy for GlenEagles, oversaw the implementation of key projects, and built a strong working relationship with the Town. Although no longer on the Landscaping Committee, I continued to oversee much of the island landscaping work, including marking beds for mulching, coordinating weeding, planting and watering perennials, and working with contractors and the Town on maintenance. In addition, I initiated, procured, and facilitated the planting of trees along the GlenEagles East and West Boulevards.
